Your guide will be waiting for you at the agreed meeting point and you will start your shore excursion in Martinique.
Together with your tour guide, you will leave the island’s capital, Fort-de-France, and drive to the northern part of the island. Your route takes you past idyllic fishing villages to Le Carbet on the coast of the Caribbean Sea. Then we continue to the ruined city of Saint-Pierre . The coastal town became notorious in 1902. The city at the foot of the Montagne Pelée volcano was the capital of the island until the devastating volcanic eruption . Today it is a historical place where the effects of the catastrophic event that almost completely destroyed the city can still be felt. Preserved ruins still indicate the eruption. You will stop at Depaz Rum Distillery to learn the Agricol Rum Process. After these impressions, continue on the well-known panoramic road Route de la Trace . Curvy, it takes you along lush green plants such as bamboo and fern trees, sometimes even through the rainforest . Along the way you’ll also catch a glimpse of the Alma River. Make a final stop at the Sacré-Cœur de Balata Catholic Church, a miniature version of the famous Sacré-Cœur basilica in Paris, it towers on the hills above Fort-de-France. Admire both the building and the great view over the island’s capital.
